Second, I decided that it was time to do my first giveaway to celebrate my new blog.  I'm so excited.  Who doesn't love a giveaway!?!? This weekend, I finished working on 2 items that I will be giving away to two lucky people.  The first item will be my set of phonics cards.  Check out my TPT store to see all of the phonics digraphs that are included.  The second item will be my Place Value to 1,000 Go Fish math center game.  Use the rafflecopter to enter to get these two items for FREE!  Also, the first person to comment and tell me how they will use these in their rooms will also win a copy.  How exciting!  So, enter now.  I will announce the winner on October 6th. Good luck!

I'm a Blog Hopper!

I saw that Erica Bohrer posted a birthday board link up at Blog Hoppin'.  I'm a week late, but I thought I would still join in on all the fun.  Have I mentioned that I am a HUGE fan of Erica Bohrer.  If you aren't a follower of her, you need to go to her blog now.  You can click here to visit her blog and see her ADORABLE birthday board.  She has an super cute birthday board that I saw on her blog over the summer.  So, I decided to make one similar to hers.  She puts her students pictures on her birthday board with them holding the date of their birthday.  GENIUS.  It was so cute, that I made my own.  I have a birthday door.

Link up and tell us how you place your birthdays in your classroom.

Fall Place Value Freebie

Hello, friends!

Yesterday, I talked about reading centers.  I also do math centers in my classroom.  The students go to 3 centers a day for 10 minutes.  I do a mini-lesson for 5-10 minutes and then we go into our centers.  The students have a game center, an independent work center where they are completing a worksheet or activity related to our mini-lesson, and then they work with me.  They work with me everyday and they are in groups based upon their weaknesses from the pre-test I give before the unit.  I love centers and the students love it too! :-) Next week we are beginning our place value to 1,000 unit in math.

I LOVE fall!  So, I made a place value roll and cover game with a fall theme.  Students will roll 2 dice and find the pumpkin that has the correct number of base 10 blocks on it.  They will cover the pumpkin.  They person who has covered the most pumpkins wins! If they roll a number that is not on a pumpkin they will record it on their recording sheet and draw the base 10 blocks.  I can't wait to have them play this game in their game center.  I hope y'all can use it in your classroom. Click the link above to download the game from my TPT store.  If you download the freebie please comment and let me know how you will use it in your classroom.  Smile...it's almost Friday! :-)

I LOVE CENTERS

Hello, friends!

I LOVE centers.  I do both reading and math centers in my classroom.  I think they are a great AWESOME way to make sure that all students are on task and learning.  I am lucky enough to get to teach reading for an hour.  In that hour, my students go to 3 centers and I pull a leveled group during each center.  My centers include reading, writing, word (spelling and digraphs), theme (science/social studies integration), computer, and a game center (normally word based).  I wanted to share one of my centers with y'all.  I am giving everyone a Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs center idea. In science, we are learning about weather (one of my favorite units).  To start the unit, we watched Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (read aloud on YouTube) and then we discussed the weather words in the book.  I also made a fantasy vs. reality connection.  Such fun! :-) The next day in their theme center, they drew what they wished itwould rain and wrote a couple of sentences. They had such GREAT drawings.  I hope you can use it.  Click on the link above to go to my TPT store.  I hope y'all have a wonderful evening!  Stay tuned tomorrow for another FREE math post!
