Five for Friday

Happy Friday, Friends!

Today, I am linking up with Doodle Bugs to share some of the things I've been up to this week.

My baby turned 3 on Monday.  How do I have a 3 year old and why does time seem to fly so fast the older I get?

I learned in September that I was being paired with a 4K teacher at my school for our Classroom Buddies.  To be honest, I was a little terrified.  They are so little...what could we possibly do together?  Well, I'm so glad that we were paired together.  My students have LOVED helping the little ones and having fun together.  Below the 4K buddy picked out a picture book for my 3rd graders to read to them.  LOVE!

Yes, this picture is blurry but their smiles are not.  We learned about all of the different battles fought in South Carolina during the American Revolution this week.  Below these are my Patriots throwing paper balls at my Loyalists.  They LOVED it.  So much fun!

Yay for an optional teacher workday!  I woke up husband up at 6:30.  Went back to sleep and Brayden woke me up around 8.  Yay for sleeping in!  I'm enjoying spending the whole day with my munchkin'.

I am almost 35 weeks pregnant and my baby has already dropped.  I never dropped with my first time, so this worries me just a little.  My C-Section is scheduled for February 16th, but I really think he's gonna be here before then.  Better get to getting all of my ducks in a row. We aren't quite ready for Gavin to enter the world yet.  I can't wait to meet him, but need a few more weeks to get everything together!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Friday!

Lots of love,

Five for Friday

It's Friday, Friends!

I am lucky enough to be off today.  Today is an optional teacher workday in my district. So, I slept in until 8:30, attempted to make a fire (FAIL), and am now waiting for little man to wake up from his nap.

It's been such a busy week.  Brayden turned 2 on Sunday.  Insert sad face here. At school, we had fun learning about surveys, prefixes, and suffixes, having our biography museum, and even a a little science experiment to end the week.

I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs for her Five for Friday.  Take a look at all the fun we had this week.

Number 1:
First, Brayden's birthday was on Sunday.  His cousins all had the flu (YUCK).  So we decided to have a small birthday party with just the 3 of us.  We bought him a cupcake just for him, we took him to Olive Garden for supper, and just relaxed and snuggled.  He had a great birthday, but it is so hard to believe that he is 2.  Time flies.

He didn't like getting his hands all dirty, so he decided to eat his cupcake with his mouth.  Then, he laughed and laughed.  Silly little thing!

Number 2:
We began our graphing unit on Monday.  This is one of my favorite units. We've been taking surveys this week and learning how to turn our data into a graph.  I'll be pulling out my roll and graph activities next week.

Number 3:
I started teaching my little ones about prefixes and suffixes.  We sang a song (we sing a song for everything) and then started on our puzzles.  We will be doing this again next week, since we had to stop early.  This will be a freebie for you soon!

Number 4:
Another 2nd grade teacher and I have decided to have "fun" Fridays where we take all of our quizzes and tests in the morning and we do some sort of learning activity in the afternoon.  I passed out all the materials and they had to make a paper clip float.  After letting them try, I showed them the video on how to do it.  They all went back to their tables and were ecstatic when the paper clip floated.  :-)

Number 5:
We've been studying biographies and held our biography museum on Thursday. I used Amanda from Teaching Maddeness' unit.  They LOVED it and were adorable.  Click here to check her unit out.

Meet Sacajawea, Amelia Earhart, Betsy, Ross, Gabby Douglas, and Annika Sorenstam

Meet Abraham Lincoln, Dale Earnhardt, Walt Disney, Peyton Manning

Take a look at all of the celebrities.  Can you spot David Beckham, John Cena, and Taylor Swift?

I hope that y'all have had a GREAT week.  Enjoy your weekend.

Lots of love,

Five for Friday

It's Friday, friends!

I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs today.

When I say I've been LAZY, I mean I've been LAZY.  I've enjoyed every minute of it.  Today is my last day of Christmas break.  I am going to be TiReD come Monday morning.  We've been sleeping in until 9:00 every day for two weeks.  Yep, I think I will need some coffee Monday morning.

I'm ready to see my precious students again even though I'm going to miss my munchkin' like crazy.  I've been thinking how I can be a better teacher and how I can engage my students more than I already am.  These thoughts are keeping me up at night.  I've been blog stalking and going through Pinterest.  Hoping for a great rest of the school year.

So, ready to see how lazy I've been this week?!?  Here's my Friday Five. :-)

Number 1:

We have been potty training all week.  Honestly, I figured it would be much easier than it has been.  He's doing well.  My only concern is that I have to send him to daycare on Monday without being "fully potty trained".  I'm hoping and praying that he does okay and has an occasional accident here and there.  We've got the hang of it at home. He only had 1 accident yesterday.  I keep reminding myself that it takes time.

Number 2:

I feel like I am on "pee watch" 24/7 now.  This week I've had to keep a close eye on him and look for signs that he needs to go to the bathroom.  So, we've been playing and reading all week long.  The teacher in my smiles when he picks up a book willingly and reads it.  :-)

Number 3:

I've spent time with my parents these last two weeks.  I don't get to see them as often during the school year.  So, I take every chance I get to see them while I am on break.  Brayden has enjoyed playing with his cousin and spending time with his grandma and grandpa.  The picture above you will see my daddy holding both of his "boys".

Number 4:

I finished up a packet that I can't wait to use when we return next week.  After I put Brayden to sleep and my husband turned on football, I got right to work.  It's amazing how much I can accomplish when I have "time".  I love that I can watch football and work on fun stuff for my classroom at the same time.

Speaking of football, Clemson plays tonight.  GO TIGERS!

Number 5:

I am participating in a Facebook Freebie Hop hosted by Tori from Tori's Teaching Tips.  (Click on the picture to see her Facebook page to know where to start "hoppin') There will be SO many freebies for you this weekend.  You don't want to miss out! Make sure you hop on by my Facebook page to grab my freebie. It's already uploaded and ready to be downloaded. ;-)

I hope that you have a TERRIFIC Friday.

Lots of love,
Jeannie

Five For Friday

Friends,

First, it's Friday.  Second, I am officially on Christmas break! I will enjoy these next two weeks of relaxation. :-)

I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs to share my week.  Boy, did I have a week.  Let's see.  I cried, I laughed, and I'm exhausted.  That pretty much sums up my week.

Number 1:
We went on a field trip this week.  We had so much fun learning about matter and our bones. My favorite lesson is always the matter lesson.  They get to use dry ice and it just amazes them the changes that it undergoes.  Love it!  I also LOVE seeing my kiddos in their goggles.  Super cute!

Number 2:
Two words...Pink Eye.  Ugh!  I took Brayden to the doctor on Wednesday and learned that he had pink eye.  He was his normal self and running all around.  However, when he sees me take out the eye drops he runs and screams bloody murder.  I'll be glad when his 7 days is up and he doesn't have to take the drops.

Number 3:
I got Brayden's Santa pictures this week.  All I can say is ADORABLE.

Number 4:
Polar Express Day was on Thursday.  It's one of my favorite days of the year.  I made home made hot chocolate (thank you Pinterest).  We watched the movie that morning.  Then, we had rotations that afternoon. My students played Reindeer Games, made mitten ornaments, sang Christmas carols and danced using scarves, and made reindeer food.  They had a BLAST!

Number 5:
Remember that I said that my week was full of laughs and cries.  Here is where I just bawled. On my way home from picking up Brayden's prescription for his pink eye, I got a speeding ticket.  I could see the sign that said 55 mph and sped up like I usually do.  I could see the sign. As soon as I sped up, lo and behold there was a state trooper right near the sign.  Speed trap...ugh.  He got me doing 61 in a 45 and walked up to the door and asked me where the emergency was.  What made it worse was that I could not find my insurance card.  I have insurance and had all the cards from 2011 to July 2013.  I just didn't have the one I needed.  I really think that he believed I didn't have insurance.  He went on and on about how if I'm lying then my license will be taken away.  It was quite a day!

I hope that everyone had a great week.

Lots of love,
Jeannie

Five for Friday

It's Friday, friends!

This is my last Friday of the summer.  I officially go back to work next week.  I believe this has been the fastest summer ever.  I can't wait to meet my new set of students though.  I love that we get a fresh start every year.

Since it's Friday, it's time to link up with Doodle Bugs for her Five for Friday linky.

fiveforfriday2
Number 1: Why, oh why, am I a procrastinator? I've always been like this.  Brayden starts daycare on Monday. {Tear}. In order to start he has to have his birth certificate and immunization record.  So guess who was running all around town today all before 3 so she could make it to her hair appointment? Yep, that would be me.  The procrastinator.  I'd share a picture of my new haircut, but I also got my eyebrows waxed.  It's almost 9:00 and I'm still all red. Not a pretty picture.

Number 2:  I met Lana from 4 The Love of Teaching at the Carolina blogger meetup.  She was telling me all about this website called Very Jane.  So, I went and looked it up.  Let's say I have made 3 purchases this week.  Such cute stuff and it's so addictive.  I've had to control my spending so the husband doesn't notice too many "Very Jane" charges.  I got my first package from them in the mail yesterday.  So cute!

Excuse the messy bed.  It's a high low skirt.

Number 3: Since it's been my last week of summer vacation, I've been spending time with my munchkin, my mom, my dad, and my sister.  I hate that when school starts I only get to see my parents once a week.  I know that Brayden is going to miss spending time with his cousin. It also rained all week, so I brought out the paint again.  This time, he decided to taste it. You can tell by the picture that paint doesn't taste very well.

Number 4: I didn't go it to work on my classroom this week.  But, I did a little a lot of laminating while Brayden was napping.  I even did some laminating while I was waiting on supper to cook. Multitasking at its best.

Number 5: I hit 500 followers on my little o'l blog this week.  I'm having a huge giveaway tomorrow.  Stop back tomorrow to check it out!

I hope that everyone has had a GREAT week!

Lots of love,

Five for Friday is BACK

Happy Friday, Friends!

First, I am so glad that Doodle Bugs and her Five for Friday linky is back.  And...her new button for the linky is ADORABLE!

fiveforfriday2

It's been a busy week for me.

Number 1: We were given the "okay" to enter our classrooms on Monday to begin decorating and getting things ready.  I worked in my classroom Monday-Wednesday.  I had to take Thursday off.  First, my legs were killing me!  I was having trouble walking.  Yep, I've been lazy all summer and getting on and off desks to hang stuff up gave me quite a workout.  I needed a few days to recover.  I'm almost finished with the decorating part.  I've got a few more things to hang up and then I can get started on the organizing part.

Number 2: I live in the country and love it.  I've seen all sorts of critters in the pasture in my back yard.  NEVER have I seen deer in my front yard.  I went to start cooking supper and saw 3 HUGE deer in my front yard.  By the time I got my phone out to take a picture, they were hiding behind the bushes except for one who was staring me down.

Number 3: I have a wall near my library that I just couldn't figure out what should go there.  While I was attempting to sleep, I remembered that the super sweet Amanda from Teaching Maddenness had posted author posters.  These will look perfect in that spot and I can't wait to share my favorite authors with my new kiddos.  So, they are printed.  All I've got to do is laminate and hang them up.  Click here to see her super cute author posters.

Number 4: A few weeks ago, my sister's husband had to leave for training to go to Afghanistan. So, my muchkin' has had a blast playing with his cousin more often than usual. They were born 11 days apart.  Crazy! I'm going to miss spending so much time with my mom and sister when I go back to work.

Number 5: The Carolina Blogger meet-up starts tonight.  I couldn't leave my Brayden for the night, so I will be joining these fabulous bloggers for lunch tomorrow.  I can't wait.

I hope that everyone has a terrific Friday!

Lots of love,
