March Currently

Hello, dear friends!

I linked up yesterday to tell you 5 random things about my week, but I just can't resist linking up with Farley, from Oh, Boy Fourth Grade, each month with her "Currently".  I look forward to this each month.  It's so much fun and I LOVE reading what everyone else is "currently" doing.

I'm definitely loving the new fonts from the AMAZING Cara Carroll that I used in the picture above.

Listening:
Well, it's Saturday morning in  my house.  Brayden is awake, which means the Disney Channel is on.  So, I am listening to Phineas and Ferb.  I actually like this show.  It's cute and very entertaining.  My husband enjoys watching it, too.  Phineas is such a cute little character.

Loving:
In EXACTLY one month I will be at the beach.  I haven't been on a real vacation.  EVER!  What I mean by "real" is one that lasts more than a couple of days.  We will be spending the whole week down at the beach and I cannot wait.  It's Brayden's first vacation, too.  We'll need some prayers.  He's never been in a car that long.  It's a 3-4 hour ride down the beach.

Thinking:
I woke up this morning to some snow flurries.  My first thought was, oooohhhhh pretty, but that quickly turned to YUCK.  I am OVER this cold weather.  This past week has been nothing but cold and rainy weather here in the South.  I need warm weather.  I need it NOW.  I've said this before...I HATE BEING COLD.  It's now March.  WARM WEATHER GET HERE NOW...THAT'S AN ORDER!

Wanting:
I want a whole new hairstyle.  I've never dyed my hair.  I refuse to until I see lots of gray hairs popping through.  (Please hold off, gray hairs!).  I always do the same hairstyle.  If I change it up, I just add some blonde highlights.  I'm wanting a change without dying my hair.  Decisions, decisions...

Needing:
I need new clothes.  I really do.  I'm the worst girl in the world when it comes to shopping   I just don't know how to shop.  I need to hire someone to do all my shopping for me.  I'm just not good at it.  I need a new wardrobe.  I'm hoping that I can rope my momma into going with me and helping me buy some stuff.  That's what mommas are for, right?

Farley gave us such a hard task this month.  We had to come up with 3 words for like, love, hate.  Super easy, right?  How about with the first letter of you name?  The easy part depends on which letter you have.

So, I'm Jeannie.  I had to really think about things that start with J

Like: Jimmy from "Smash"

I really like the show "Smash".  This season they have a new character on her whose name is "Jimmy".  He's sorta kinda a bad guy, which is turn on.  I've always been attracted to "the bad guy" but I never went for it.  I married a truly "good guy" and couldn't be happier, But, back to the "bad guys".  He is super cute and he can SING.  Melts my heart.  So, Jimmy from "Smash".  I like you.

Love: Jersey Mikes

This one was EASY.  In fact, yesterday I had my obsession for Jersey Mikes in my Five for Friday linky.  The only thing I dislike about Jersey Mikes is how expensive their subs are.  However, they are ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS.  Love, love, love me some Jersey Mikes!

Hate: Juggling
This was the hardest for me.  I don't hate many things, and couldn't think of many things with the letter J.  Then, juggling came into my head.  No, I don't hate the circus.  No, I don't hate clowns.  My hate for juggling is weird.

I college, we had to take a PE Methods class.  Why?  I have no idea, I have no desire to be a PE teacher.  Anyway, we had to learn to juggle.  Not only did we have to learn to juggle, but it was a GRADE.  I am one of the most uncoordinated people that you will ever meet, I even walk weird ..my feet go opposite ways.  So, we started off with juggling 1 scarf.  I can throw one scarf in the air and catch it.  When 2 scarfs came along, I was thinking this is easy, I CAN DO THIS.  Then, the dreaded 3 scarfs came along.  For the life of me, I could not do it.  I just can't juggle.  I looked around my class and saw lots and lots of people juggling 3 scarfs.  Some even mastered that and went to juggling 3 balls.  So, my hate of juggling stems from the fact that I couldn't figure out who to do it.

I got a C in "juggling".

Link up and tell us all about what you are "currently" doing.

Lots of love,

Five for Friday

It's Friday, Friday!  Gotta get down to Friday!  Oh, how I love Fridays!

I'm linking up again with the wonderful Kacey to share 5 random facts about my week.

Number 1: Gangnam Style...such a huge hit with my kiddos.  A couple of weeks ago, I had a student at the end of the day doing the "Gangnam Style" dance.  When I came across, the ADORABLE graphics from Pink Cat Studio, I just knew I had to make something with it.  This week we reviewed money and graphing.  Here's a few of our "Gangnam Style" poses.

If you are interested in my latest packets, click the pictures below.

Number 2: I have an obsession with Jersey Mikes.  When I was pregnant, all I wanted to eat were pizza and subs.  Not a shocker because I love pizza and subs.  Jersey Mikes made its way to my little town and it is ABSOLUTELY delicious.  I have an obsession.  I'm glad that Brayden likes them, too.  I've heard the wise tale that what you craved while pregnant will be something that you child doesn't like to eat.  Don't know how much of that is true, but it wasn't the case with Brayden.  We love subs and pizza!

Number 3: We celebrated Dr. Seuss week this week at our school.  On Thursday, we dressed up as a Dr. Seuss character. Check out our pictures below.

Here I am...I HATE getting my picture taken.  I wasn't going to put up a picture of me because the picture looks awful, but oh well.  I was a yellow-bellied sneetch.

Number 4: We bought a new truck yesterday.  Not so sure I'm happy about it.  We NEEDED a truck, but I hate car payments.  Why, no picture?  Well, my husband went and picked it up last night and didn't get home till 8.  So, getting a picture wasn't on my mind.  I am the worst when it comes to pictures. Just a random thing about my week. :-)

Number 5: Taxes:
All I have to say is that I hate taxes.  Can't go into much detail, but I just hate getting my taxes done.  That's all...

I hope EVERYONE had a wonderful week.  Link up so I can read some random things about your week.

Lots of love,

Presidents' Day Fun and Officer 'ED'

Hello, friends!

We've had such a great and busy week and we've only been in school for 2 days.  My students had a blast learning about the presidents.  Check out our pictures below.

Roll and Graph...so much fun!

What would you cook the president for dinner? Such CUTE answers! Spaghetti, hamburgers, and beef sausage pizza on the menu in my class.

Next up, my kiddos met Officer Ed.  Officer Ed taught them about the different sounds that "ed" makes.  I called words with the suffix "ed" word criminals because they try to trick us with their ending sounds. On Tuesday they walked around the room and found the "ed" words and wrote them in the right category on their recording sheet. Then we came back together and placed all the words on our white board.  They had tons of fun!

This little boy made my day.  He covered up the ed and was trying all the sounds.  Such a happy teacher moment!

Here's our completed sort!

Today, we played Officer High Five.  They each received a "badge" and had to write down an "ed" word.  Then they gave a high five to a "police officer".  They had to read each other's words and then switch badges.  My kiddos love the high five and switch game.

I hope everyone had a great day!

New Items and a Presidents' Day Sale

Happy Sunday, friends!

My little munchkin' spent the night with his Grandma so the hubby and I could enjoy our Valentine's Day dinner.  I realized that this has been the 10th Valentines that we have celebrated together.  We are high school sweethearts.  Hard to believe that we have been together that long.

Since my munchkin' was with his Grandma this morning and my hubby was away golfing I was able to finish up two of my packets without any interruptions.  What a difference that makes...

So, here they are:

The last couple of weeks my students have been working on double and triple digit addition.  They have been matching the math sentence on an MP3 player (clipart) to the MP3 player with the correct answer.  They thought finding matching MP3 players was the coolest thing in the world.  Makes my heart happy.  Click below to check out my packet.

Second, my students LOVE to roll and graph.  St. Patrick's Day is coming up next month, so I went ahead and made another packet just for St. Patrick's Day.  I can't wait to use it with my kiddos.  Click below if you are interested in using this for math for St. Patrick's Day.

Also, I have my Presidents' Day packets 10% off this week to celebrate Presidents' Day. I am lucky to have tomorrow off.  I can't wait to spend time with my munchkin'.

Click the packets below to check out my Presidents' Day activities.

Of course, since I have two new products I'd love to share with 2 of my fantastic followers.  Leave me a comment below and I will pick two random winners tonight at 9:00 to win my Shufflin' Into Subtraction and St. Patrick's Day Roll and Graph.

Lots of love,

Five For Friday

It's FRIDAY, friends!

See, I told y'all that I was going to link up on time this week. ;-)

I'm linking up with Kacey from Doodle Bugs to share five random things about my week.  It's been such a LONG week.  I am so glad that we have Monday off to rest.  I'm in need of it.

Number 1-I had to share a picture from our party yesterday  If you read my blog post yesterday, then you saw that I played the cookie game where you had to get the cookie into your mouth using only your facial muscles.  My kiddos were still talking about it today.  So much fun!

Number 2-I am using WAY too much paper on literacy centers.  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE centers and differentiated guided reading.  Fridays are our "Fun Fridays  in reading.  Students finish their work from the week and then get to participate in fun literacy activities. Today, I tried the Daily 5.  They loved it and asked me if they could do this all the time instead of our "other centers".  Hmmmm....I have a lot to think about this weekend and definitely for next school year.

Number 3-I read this book to my class yesterday during our Interactive Read Aloud time.  It was a hit.  Such a cute and funny story, but had a great lesson to go along with it.

Number 4-I purchased Rachelle's, What the Teacher Wants, packet about the legend of St. Valentine.  She has such cute ideas!  This packet was adorable and they learned so much.  Definitely put this on you wishlist for next year, friends if you didn't buy it.  My kiddos had so much fun talking about St. Valentine and understanding what Valentine's Day is all about.

Number 5: This time last year I was on maternity leave with a 1 month old.  This year, I have a rambunctious 1 year old who's in to everything.  Brayden would not let me get a good picture of him.  He has on his "hunk of burning love" shirt.  Too cute not to share!

Link up and share all about your week! I'm finishing up a new packet.  It's called "Shufflin' into Subtraction".  My students used it this week and loved it.  Details coming soon. :-)

Some Valentine Day Fun

Happy Valentine's Day, Friends!

I hope everyone had a GREAT day.  I had a blast with my kiddos and HAD to share some of my favorite pictures from today. I'd love to hear what you did today.

I came across this precious packet on TpT.  This packet has a collection of 40 awards that fit the personality of all my children.  I found the exact awards I needed within 15 minutes.  They were SUPER cute.  My students loved reading their award and comparing it to all their friends.  Definitely check out this packet and save it for next year.  I also gave my kids a Valentine themed homework pass.  They thought I'd given them "gold".  They were so excited and said this was the best Valentine's Day ever.  I love them so!

And now, for our class pictures.

First, we made bags for our cards.  Some of them were too cute for words.

A couple of my smarties thought it would be funny to write a hidden comment on the flap of their bags.

This little boy is "proposing" to his girlfriend.  I've tried and tried to tell them that we all have the dreaded "cooties".  :-)

Another hidden flap...notice the hidden d at the top.  We need to work on spelling a little bit more.  Being from the south, sometimes we don't say all our letters.  He kept telling me that it's 'hansome" and that he doesn't hear a d.  Too cute!

Second, I had two games I was planning to play with my kiddos today.  The first one fell through.  I went to find conversation hearts and couldn't find them anywhere.  So we played the cookie game instead.  We played this game at a faculty meeting (the grade level chairs were volunteered) and it was HILARIOUS so I knew that I had to play it with my kiddos this year.  I know you've seen this one before, and it was a hit. They LOVED it and it was so much fun.  Check out our cookies in action.

This little boy said he wasn't using his facial muscles that he was going to scream quietly to get it to come down.

His cookie got stuck in his glasses so many times.

I hope you all had a fantastic day.  Happy Valentine's Day.  I love and appreciate each and every one of you.  You all rock!

Lots of love,
