Throwback Thursday

Hello, Friends!

It's Throwback Thursday.  I'm throwing it back to 2011.  Here is me and my sister at her wedding.

I chose this picture for a special reason.  My sister and her husband just celebrated their two year anniversary a few days ago. Her husband leaves today for training before he is deployed to Afghanistan.  He will be gone for a year a half.  Please pray for my sister as she goes through his first deployment.  She has a 1 year old son at home as well who will need prayers.

I'm linking up with the oh so fabulous Cara from The First Grade Parade for her Throwback Thursday.

I'm choosing a post that I published on November 16, 2012.  I am starting Daily 5 this year.  I am changing the way I approach literacy centers completely. I am super excited about it and I really think that going by what the Sisters have written will make a difference in my classroom.

I plan to have these writing templates in the writing center for them to choose from each day. The posters will be a great visual as to how the writing should look.

Happy Election Day, friends!

My school is a voting center, so my district is closed today!  Woohooo!  Which means, that I've had time to work on a few projects.  I finished my writing posters for all of my fantastic followers. I can't tell you how many times I've heard the phrase, "Mrs. Hunter...I'm done, what do I do now."  I decided this year to place some writing posters on my wall that have different things that my students can write about.  Now, they go to the writing center and choose a template and get to writing.  They love it!  Take a look at the preview of everything that's inlcuded!

Throwback Thursday

Hello, Friends!

Happy 4th of July.  As of right now, it looks like today is going to be a rainy day. Which means, that all of the fun festivities and fireworks will be rescheduled for Saturday.  That just takes the fun out of the 4th.  I've always loved watching the fireworks.  They are just so pretty.  I'm going to be really disappointed if I can't watch them until Saturday. :-(  I hope everyone has a safe and relaxing holiday.  Do you and your family do anything special?

It's Throwback Thursday.  I'm throwing it back to the 1990's, 1996 to be exact. I'm on the right.

I'm linking up with the FABULOUS Cara from The First Grade Parade of her Throwback Thursday.

This post was published on May 3, 2013. I choose this one today because I am planning to integrate technology into my lessons more than what I have in the past.  My students LOVED making commercials in iMovie.  I can't wait to have my new students make more preview/commercials next year.  Next year meaning in a month and a half.  EEEK...summer please so down just a little.

Happy Friday, friends!

This week, we have been reviewing our community in Social Studies.  To do so, I had my students create a commercial for our town of Greenville.  I downloaded the iMovie app and can say that I wish I had downloaded it sooner.  My students LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it.  Their commercials turned out so cute.  Click play to here from little smarties tell you why you should come and visit Greenville.

Other news,  I uploaded a brand new packet to TpT.  I created task cards to cover every 2nd grade math common core standard.  Yes, friends.  Task cards for EVERY standard.  There are 12 standards for each topic.  Click the picture below to check it out in my TpT store.  It's on sale until Sunday night.

Throwback Thursday

Hello, friends!

It's Throwback Thursday.  I'm throwing it back to 1986. LOL!

Wasn't I such a cutie? Anyway...I'm here to "throwback" to a previous post. :-)

I'm linking up with the FABULOUS Cara from The First Grade Parade for her Throwback Thursday linky.  I haven't been blogging long (8 months), so I went back through to find a day where my students had a blast.  It was my favorite 100th day of school to date even though I was sick. I wanted to decorate my door for the 100th day.  Can you believe that on the 99th day of school I got sick and couldn't come to prepare?  Anyway, this post was dated February 1st, 2013.

So, here to it is.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello, friends!

Today my 2nd graders were 100 days smarter. We had a BLAST today doing all sorts of things!

First, if you haven't had your 100th day of school yet, then you definitely need to check out Rebecca's, Darlin' in First, packet. On Monday my students were given the assignment to collect 100 items and put them into a mystery bottle. Then, they came up with clues to help the detectives figure out what their mystery item was. So much fun!! Check out these pictures.

Detectives hard at work!

Mrs. Hunter can I shake the bag to figure it out?

Second, we used my 100th day packet in math and writing. My students learned they there are so many more things you can do with a 100's chart. We counted by 5's and 10's, colored odd and even numbers, and even wrote 100 words. Then we ended the day by writing what they thought life would be like when they are 100.

This one was hilarious!  Her life will be over.
I had to share this one because he will be old enough to have a beer!  I asked him to read it because I thought maybe, just maybe, he meant beard.  NOPE!  He said beer, you know the kind that old people get to drink.  I almost busted out laughing! Crazy things that my smarties think!

Click here to check out my packet if your 100th day of school is coming up.

Only 80 more days to go, for me! :-)

Lots of love,
