The cootie catcher/fortune tell...Not stupid at all. The cootie catcher/fortune teller was a game I remember playing in school. The insides had silly fortunes on them. I off course decided to make one for my kiddos that was educational. Partner 1 asks Partner 2 to choose either the word ones, tens, hundreds, or thousands. Then, Partner 1 spells the word while folding the cootie catcher in and out. Partner 1 asks Partner 2 to choose a number and Partner 1 folds the cootie catcher in and out that many times. Last, Partner 1 opens the flap for Partner 2 to answer.

There are several YouTube videos showing how to make and play the original version of the cootie catcher.

I hope this helps!
